Disclaimer: I have seen a lot of wine farms on my Cape Town wine tasting experiences and Waterkloof wine tasting was by far my best experience! Why? I found the Waterkloof wine farm is absolutely beautiful. The experience was so good I had to blog about it.
Now that that’s out of the way. We can get into all the detail. I have to mention that I visited this Somerset wine farm during the unfortunate Covid times. The advantage? It was very quiet and I got to experience the farm completely. The disadvantage? There was no food.
Where is Waterkloof wine farm?
Hidden away in one of the many somerset wine farms regions, Waterkloof wine farm can be found on Sir Lowry’s Pass Road in Cape Town. With a vineyard that covers 53 Hectares, this wine farm prides itself in organic and crisp wines! Yup, their wine is good!
I previously blogged about some of the other Somerset wine farms experiences here, and how I loved the fact that they accommodated family. I will be honest, with the Waterkloof wine tasting I was already taken by the building itself. The most aesthetically pleasing Cape Town wine tasting that I have been to by far! If you have read some of my other food reviews on my food page, you already know that I am a sucker for good views. These particular views were absolutely breathtaking!
This tasting room overlooks their somerset wine farms, which is great for those Instagram snaps! Now, as mentioned, unfortunately, due to Covid 19 we did not get to experience the restaurant however the tasting made up for it. I loved the interactive wine tasting experience wherein each wine is properly detailed and explained and you are left to experience the full flavour prior to experiencing the next wine. The variety was also a huge plus for me, I prefer my wine a bit on the sweeter side and thankfully they did have that to offer. Price range? Also, quite competitive with tastings starting from R80 however a list of their offerings can be found on their actual site.
Overall experience?
Definitely one of those vineyards you would return to because you just have to experience it again! So, if you are looking to experience any Cape Town wine tastings do try out this wine farm. You will not be disappointed.

Oh wow! I have never been to Cape Town, but surely adding it to the list as well as this vineyard! It looks amazing from the pictures and need for sure to try it again when the restaurant is open! x
