A short, very short read of my visit to the aerial cableway in Hartbeespoort.

So, in case you do not know, a cableway also known as a cable car ride is a cart that transports you up. Typically to the top of a mountain where you would be able to get the most beautiful aerial view of the area.

In South Africa, we have two popular aerial cableway destinations. Namely in aerial cableway Hartbeespoort as well as Table Mountain in Cape Town. From what I have heard they are quite similar; I however have only been to the one in Harties for now and will only be focusing on that.

Hartbeespoort cableway is located at Plot 3, Melodie, Agricultural Holdings. This location is open 7 days a week if weather permits. With prices ranging from R240 for adults, R180 for children, and R140 for pensioners. If you do happen to visit the cableway on your birthday then your entry will be free! Check out my blog on more things to do for free on your birthday.

What can i expect at aerial cableway hartbeespoort?

You can expect a range of restaurants once you are up on the mountain, as well as bars for some cocktails. For a typical souvenir shopper like myself, there is also a gift shop.

As a first-timer at the cableway, I found it very scary at first to go up in the cable car (I don’t like heights very much). However, once up there I thought it was worth it. You get to see breath-taking views of the popular Hartbeespoort dam as well as the Magalies mountains which are not far from the area. I loved the variety of food and drinks, most facilities are also self-service. The fact that you get to dine at a view is a bonus. The destination also has a kid zone, which is great for the kids and making it very family-friendly which makes for a great day out.

Was it worth the visit? Yup, it has been something I had been eyeing. The views make the trip totally worth it though. I have put up most of the pictures on my Instagram.

Would I go back there again? Probably not, I feel it is more of a once-off activity and one would be satisfied. If anything, I would rather do the cableway in Cape Town next.
